Best Centrifuse Exotic Builds in Destiny 2

Centrifuse is an exotic auto rifle in Destiny 2. Added in Season of the Deep, this exotic excels at explosive AOE damage while also blinding enemies. However primary exotics generally need a build to see their full potential.

Here are 3 builds to try out with Centrifuse in Destiny 2.

What does Centrifuse do?

Centrifuse is a 450 auto rifle, dealing Arc damage. Its exotic perk is Overcharge Capacitor, which grants you a weapon charge by sprinting, sliding, or firing the weapon. Final blows when at high weapon charge cause explosions and final blows at max charge blind nearby enemies. Its other perk is Regenerative Motion, which causes sprinting to slowly reload the gun. the catalyst once completed makes you slowly gain weapon charge when Amplified.

The basic gameplay loop with Centrifuse is to keep your weapon charge maxed as much as possible. This can be done by firing your weapon while moving, only stopping to sprint for a short duration to get some ammo reloaded. You will also want to prioritize lower health targets, as these enemies will detonate and damage nearby enemies, and at max weapon charge it will blind nearby enemies.

The builds below will take advantage of both Centrifuse’s AOE damage while also creating Ionic Traces to get lots of energy regen and spam abilities.

Arc Warlock build for Centrifuse

Aspects:

  • Arc Soul
  • Electrostatic Mind

Fragments:

  • Spark of Amplitude
  • Spark of Shock
  • Spark of Discharge
  • Spark of Magnitude

Exotic: Fallen Sunstar or Mantle of Battle Harmony

Warlocks have 2 exotics that work well with Centrifuse. They have a similar core build when it comes to Fragments and Aspects, but they have two different playstyles. Fallen Sunstar leans more into the ability side of the game, while Mantle of Battle Harmony focuses more on gunplay.

Fallen Sunstar is great for buffing out your Ionic Traces, which there are plenty of with this build. They grant additional energy, meaning the uptime on abilities is some of the highest in the game. Mantle of Battle Harmony gives additional Super energy for getting kills with weapons that match your subclass. Once Super energy is full, then weapons matching your subclass type get a damage buff. Centrifuse will take full advantage of this buff, and so will your heavy weapon if your run something like Hothead or Stormchaser.

Arc Hunter build for Centrifuse

Aspects:

  • Tempest Strike
  • Flow State

Fragments:

  • Spark of Discharge
  • Spark of Amplitude
  • Spark of Ions
  • Spark of Shock

Exotic: Shinobu’s Vow

This Hunter build focuses on utilizing as many grenades as possible. Shinobu’s Vow gives you an additional grenade charge, meaning the energy regen from Ionic Traces has more room to be used. Although the damage on Skip Grenades is lower compared to other grenades, it will be supplemented by Jolt and the AOE explosions from Centrifuse. With Anti-Barrier being on auto rifle in Season of the Deep, this build plus a Chill Clip fusion rifle is capable of stunning all 3 champion types.

Arc Titan build for Centrifuse

Aspects:

  • Touch of Thunder
  • Knockout

Fragments:

  • Spark of Discharge
  • Spark of Amplitude
  • Spark of Ions
  • Spark of Shock

Exotic: Point-Contact Cannon Brace

Similar to the prior two builds, the fragments are mostly the same. However, this Titan build focuses on high-damage melee with strong AOE, all while being on a short cooldown. Make sure to use your melee as soon as it is up, to maximize damage output while also not wasting any energy generated from Ionic Traces. With this build you will be generating Ionic Traces from Centrifuse kills, your Pulse Grenades, and killing Jolted enemies.

Conclusion

Where Centrifuse is going to lack is higher-end content like Raids and Grandmaster Nightfalls. Sacfricing your exotic slot for a primary weapon can hurt your damage output, and in some cases make it hard to clear enemies. Because Centrifuse relies on kills to get its full utility, it will take longer to activate due to higher health enemies.

Although primary exotics can be hit or miss, Centrifuse is a fun exotic to play with in Destiny 2. With the correct build, you can clear rooms of enemies while having strong uptime on abilities. The ability to blind targets adds some great utility to this weapon. Give Centrifuse a spin in PvE with one of these builds, you will not be disappointed.
