Breachway has been revealed by Hooded Horse and Edgeflow Studios today, with this space based deck-building roguelike set to be coming in 2023. Players will be tasked with building their ships using different modules and recruiting the crew, before heading out to explore the galaxy and dealing with all the dangers that brings.
“During our search for a publisher, we explored several options,” says Victor Rubinstein, Lead Designer on Breachway. “None of them fully met our criteria. Hooded Horse’s openness, trust, ease of communication, and genuine passion for games immediately shone through , and we knew we found the partner we were looking for.”
There will be a number of narrative choices to make in Breachway as players venture through the galaxy, with many not being simple good or bad choices. As progress is made and the ship upgraded new cards will be unlocked to help diversify tactics in the turn based battles that will come up. These cards will allow players to hack enemy equipment, attack with your own weapons, or disable enemy ships in other ways. Again, choices won’t be simple as your crew members will belong to different factions, and how you approach those factions will impact how your crewmate reacts.
New ships will be unlockable in Breachway as progress is made, with some of these ships being faction specific. That in turn will impact your standing with other factions. After all, if you are flying around in a certain faction’s ship another faction may not be too happy with that. Breachway has currently only be confirmed for PC via Steam, and it is expected in 2023.
