Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games have announced an agreement to co-develop and co-publish Control 2, a sequel to the 2019 hit, and a game that was previously going by the codename Heron. Control 2 will be coming to Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Control 2 is still in the initial pre-production concept stage, with an initial budget of €50 million. Everything will be split down the middle with development, marketing and post-launch costs split between 505 Games and Remedy. Publishing duties will also be split – 505 publishing on console and Remedy on PC.

Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies. Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2,” Rami and Raffi Galante continue.
Co-development makes sense, with Remedy having a lot of projects in the works. Alan Wake 2 is in full production and expected for release in 2023, while Control 2’s confirmation goes alongside Codename Condor, a spin-off game with four player co-op. There’s also remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2. Oh, and a multiplayer game for Tencent. So yeah, they’re exceptionally busy right now after decades of working as a single project studio.
