Capcom revealed the first gameplay footage of the upcoming DLC character A.K.I. joining Street Fighter 6 on September 27.
A.K.I. is all about poison and just like her master F.A.N.G. (Street Fighter 5), her moves inflict poison that slowly drains her opponents life. The best way to remove the poison is to simply hit A.K.I. But there’s more to her poisons, if poisoned opponents get hit by her special moves, an explosion called Toxic Blossom will trigger, giving the character opportunities for punishing combos.
Her fighting style is unique and imitates someone like a snake, slithering through the stage, using moves to close the gap and apply her poisons up close.
Here’s a rundown of A.K.I’s special moves.
Serpent Lash – From a distance, A.K.I. sends her nails flying forward like a chain, poisoning enemies she hits. When she strikes an opponent who is already poisoned, a Toxic Blossom will trigger an explosion and open enemies up to follow-up attacks.
Nightshade Pulse – A.K.I. sends a bubble forward that also poisons enemies it hits. She can strike the bubble with Nightshade Chaser to pop it in advance, increasing its area of effect.
Orchid Spring – A.K.I. places a puddle of poison in front of her which will affect opponents who step inside it.
Sinister Slide – Slither across the screen to avoid threats while stalking forward and perform follow-up moves like Venomous Fang, Heel Strike, or Entrapment.
Claws of Ya Zi – A.K.I.’s Level 3 Super Art pierces various pressure points on an opponent’s body and injects a poison that dangerously detonates from within.
A.K.I. is the second DLC character to be added in Street Fighter 6 and is part of the game’s Year 1 Character Pass. Those who already own the pass will get the character unlocked immediately. Those who prefer to purchase DLC characters separately can do so through the game’s premium currency.
To prepare for the character’s eventual release, a new premium Fighting Pass will be available on September 1 as it features cosmetics themed around the new character. Just like Rashid, players with a Rental Fighting Ticket (obtained through Fighting Passes), can use one to try A.K.I. for an hour to see if she’s a character worth investing in.
Street Fighter 6 is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
