Amazon show will be a faithful adaptation.
Last week, it was made official that Sony’s enduringly popular God of War series will be adapted for TV. Amazon Prime Video ordered the live-action series, and while it’s still early days, there’s some solid talent on board already. Perhaps more importantly, the people involved are saying the right things.
Amazon Studios’ head of television, Vernon Sanders, was asked by Collider about the show, and what was so appealing about the games. Sanders points out the company’s history with adaptations such as Invincible and The Boys, but explains they’re on the lookout for meaningful narratives: “…the thing that we’re always looking for is whether there is a real emotional core, if there’s a real narrative story, and I think part of what makes God of War so special,” he says.
