The upcoming 2D Metroidvania platformer Biomorph, developed by Lucid Dreams Studio, will let you morph into the monsters you defeat. Turning into these monsters grants you access to their skills and powers which you can use to defeat enemies and navigate the world. As you explore the game’s interconnected world, you’ll encounter NPC’s, secrets and optional boss fights across its variety of environments. Upgrades are scattered across the world giving rewards to players with a knack for searching out every nook and cranny. As you progress through the game, you will work to rebuild the village of Blightmoor, which you can personalize. Your village will be the home to NPCs that you can befriend and learn more about as you advance through the game. This isn’t Lucid Dreams Studio’s first game within the 2D Metroidvania genre. In 2020, they released Legends of Ethernal. A fantasy adventure game that had its art and story praised while the mechanics and combat were described as “clunky” and “frustrating.” Legends of Ethernal is currently sitting at 61 on Metacritic. While a release date isn’t available yet, Biomorph is expected to come to Steam and Switch later this year.
