The Jackbox Party Pack 10 release date has been announced, with this tenth entry in the hardy perennial party game series launching across all major digital platforms on 19th October. Check out the announcement trailer.
I’m really not sure how Jackbox Games missed the chance to launch on 10th October, but I guess nothing in this world can be perfect.
As always, Jackbox Party pack will feature five new party games, blending together a mixture of returning favourites and brand new creations. There’s drawing battles in Tee K.O. 2, type-offs in FixyText, time-travel trivia in Timjinx, a bit of intrigue and social deduction in Hypnotorious, and the group game music-making on Dodo Re Mi – the studio’s first ever music game.
All of the games are designed for different group sizes, whether that’s FixyText being recommended for 3-6, or Dodo Re Mi branching all the way from 1-9 players. With players connecting via their smartphones, you don’t have to be in person to play, and Jackbox has long supported playing via streaming, whether that’s a Shareplay, Discord or something broader with Twitch audiences – there’s also audience participation modes, and settings to loosen the timings on different modes.
As with last year’s game, Party Pack 10 will be localised for English, French, Italian, German and Spanish (Castilian and Latin American). This year’s game has that at launch though, whereas localisation was added post-launch for Party Pack 9.
Looking back on last year’s game, in our Jackbox Party Pack 9 review, I said, “As an overall package, Jackbox Party Pack 9 is another hearty five-course meal of fun party games. Some games take a little time to grasp the concept or lack a certain pizazz, but there’s the dependability of Fibbage 4, inventive format of Roomerang, and even the trivia game Quixort finds an interesting niche to tease your brain with. A good entry in the long-running series, but not quite an all-timer.”
