A new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe update has introduced a long-requested custom items feature. Players who download the free update can now choose which items appear in offline races, as well as in certain online modes. Players can also set custom items to only appear on certain teams in order to create custom rulesets for their races. This update’s release coincides with the launch of the third wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC.
