A crucial feature for the success of Mortal Kombat 11 was the cross-platform multiplayer, this feature allowed players on consoles and PC to play against each other and made it so that players could have less time in matchmaking as well. The feature was originally present in the Steam store a few weeks ago but now has been removed.

In a tweet, it was highlighted that the feature has been quietly removed, and can be further confirmed by going to the Steam store of the game too. A rather curious change that may concern fans who may have been waiting to leverage cross-platform play once more.
It’s worth noting that an earlier tweet on the same account confirmed the feature as early as September 3rd, and as of right now, the feature has been removed.
While Netherrealm Studios has not yet officially talked about the status change, let’s wait and see what happens. Many fans who were expecting the feature to return in the title are definitely going to be disappointed if it is not present on launch.
Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 14th for the PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
