The reliable billbil-kun, who has accurately leaked the PlayStation Plus games each month for quite some time now has once again scooped next month’s title.
According to them ,the headline game for PS Plus September 2023 will be Volition’s reboot of Saint’s Row.
We scored the game 7/10 in our review when the title was released in August 2022. “After so many facelifts, there were fears Saints Row would fail to recapture the unconventional beauty of the earlier games, but this reboot proves how adept Volition is when it comes to reinventing their flagship franchise,” said Jim. “This latest outing is my favourite game in the series to date, so while basic combat and dips in visual quality are disappointing, they did little to keep me away from Santo Ileso. You’ll struggle to find anything ground-breaking though this sandbox is bursting with entertaining things to do, ideal for sharing with a partner in crime.”
Saints Row was a critical disappointment, but speaking alongside the latest quarterly financial report, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors said that “Financially, Saints Row has performed in line with management expectations in the quarter.”
Despite this Embracer decided to move Volition over to be managed by another team, “Going forward, Volition will transition to become part of Gearbox which has all the tools, including an experienced management team in the US, to create future success at Volition. This is the first internal group transfer where we transfer a major studio between operative groups, but it is not necessarily the last.”
August will see the launch of the third DLC expansion for the game and a free update that will include a new district. There have been two DLC packs already, May saw the release of the first expansion, The Heist and the Hazardous, which will also see the addition of the Sunshine Springs district. The May update also added a selfie mode and combat improvements. A second update in July included the Doc Ketchum’s Murder Circus, along with a further free update.
