A datamine has revealed that Starfield could skip Nvidia’s DLSS technology. For those of you who don’t know, AMD was announced as the official Starfield partner, so this was already anticipated. Moreover, there are no signs of Intel XeSS too, so we could only be looking at AMD FSR for the title.
Starfield Might Not Include Nvidia DLSS or Intel XeSS
While the exclusion of DLSS doesn’t come as a surprise, at least we still have an upscaling technology. As AMD is the official partner, FSR or FidelityFX Super Resolution will apparently be the only upscaling method. This might be a bummer for those who have an Nvidia RTX40 series card.
The latest Nvidia cards use DLSS 3 which is a way superior upscaling method. Combined with their new frame generation technology, the performance we get through it is unreal. However, that doesn’t mean FSR is bad, you can get considerably better FPS at a mere loss of quality through it as well.
However, while AMD is the official partner, this isn’t an excuse not to include the other two. Plenty of games, in fact, most of the new games include all three upscaling methods providing flexibility to the gamers. But for now, Bethesda hasn’t confirmed the exclusion of DLSS, so take this with a grain of salt.
Despite everything, Starfield is going to be one of the biggest titles of the year. Also, the things we’ve heard about it are mostly quite positive. The pre-load is now available on Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Xbox app. Steam users will be able to preload from August 30th. The game officially comes out on Sept 6th, 2023.
