As the school holidays wind to a close, and those heady weeks of FIFA games and lengthy RPG sessions fade into memory, my household has had one last gaming hurrah. I’ve been making my way through all of the things I saw at Gamescom, and carried on with some of them when I got home. Wayfinder has become the daily MMO hit, and I’ve been playing with my son in his first true stint of online gaming. Alongside that I’m still playing Baldur’s Gate 3, and I’m probably going to finish up just as the PS5 version appears. It’s safe to say it’s very, very good, and if you haven’t been able to play yet, you should be excited.
Tuffcub probably hasn’t been playing Destiny 2, but he has been playing Taito Milestones 2! Mainly because it has New Zealand Story in it, a decision I thoroughly support. Meanwhile, Gareth has been playing It Takes Two, Sniper Elite 5, and No Man’s Sky. He told us, “I did a trench run in NMS and, typical for the game, it got dull halfway through.”
Nic B has played Sea of Stars, calling it “A fun romp through old school, turn-based RPG nostalgia.” He continued, “It’s a great entry for the genre, and it does a lot of things well, but it’s ultimately let down by combat being a little too stale.”
Reuben has played the same things as last week, so Pokémon Unite and Houseflipper. That said, he’s been dropping into FFXIV recently to get the various events done.
Aran finished Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew saying, “It’s a really good stealth strategy game, and it is a shame it will be Mimimi’s last game. Also finished XIII despite the buggy mess it was at times.”
Jason played Armored Core 6, which you can read all about in his review. He also told us, “I also played through the rather short new story quest in Honkai Star Rail, and I’ve been enjoying the new region in Genshin Impact too. Also some more Baldur’s Gate 3, which is just a phenomenal game.”
It’s been his usual mix of SF6, DBD, OW2 etc. for Nick P, but he also started Armored Core 6 and says, “I’m really enjoying it so far! I love designing mechs!”
Ade has been playing WrestleQuest for review. He says, “So far, it’s the best wrestling themed game this year, effortlessly eclipsing 2K and Fight Forever.” He also asked, “Has anyone played Stadium Stampede mode on AEW: Fight Forever? It’s the most hilariously awful thing I’ve played in years! Recommended if you have fun playing bad games.”
Miguel has hopped on the mech train by playing lots of Armored Core 6. He also fit in a bit of Fortnite and some Monochrome Mobius for review.
And finally, Tef is taking his first small steps into Starfield today, but since we didn’t get access before the early access launch, he’s mainly been breaking up the post-Gamescom writing churn with little bits of Wingspan, in both its tabletop and video game forms.
Now then, what have you played?
